Also, don’t the exposure this opportunity will afford you and the potential for increased performance income on the backend.  Artists who have contributed music in the past include Lior and Katie Michaelson.

Thousands Discover Tony Moore’s Melbourne by Travelling on Trams

Tuesday, August 19th, 2008

Tony Moore’s album ‘My Melbourne’ is reaching tens of thousands of Victorian commuters on a daily basis as it is promoted on all the City Circle Trams in Melbourne. Tony has also licensed his City Circle Tram song to Yarra Trams for their promotional DVD and in return there are poster ads and flyers appearing in every tram, along with the wonderfully patriotic album that Tony has recorded.

These trams carry 10,000 people every day, over half of which are tourists, so Tony is getting exposure for his music to over 300,000 people every month. The DVD goes into all Melbourne hotels as well as the major tourist attractions such as the infamous Museums, the Aquarium and the Eureka Skydeck.

Musicadium congratulates Tony on this staggering success - and really, it couldn’t have happened to a nicer bloke!

Have a look at Tony’s website for some more info on Melbourne - including a list of Tony’s ‘Top Ten Things To Do In Melbourne’ including my favourite place for Italian food short of Italy itself - Lygon Street.

The Sea Shall Not Have Them Opening for Aussie Rock Veterans Magic Dirt

Tuesday, August 19th, 2008

TSSNHT have been handpicked by the highly regarded MAGIC DIRT to open their Coolangatta Hotel show on Friday 22 August. They are continuing to demo new songs, with an eye to start recording their debut album later in the year.

Musicadium proudly distributes their debut EP and can’t wait to hear their next offering.

Here are what some other musical folk had to say about this up-and-coming instrumental act.

In reviewing a show at The Zoo Brisbane on May 15, Time Off’s Matt O’Neill described TSSNHT as “a beautifully captivating mélange of post-rock, electronic flourishes and angular riffs, as well as one of Brisbane’s (sic) most promising bands… Tracks like “Fluid” and “Theme From An Airless Room” shimmer with post-apocalyptic melody and wide-screen melancholia and the duo’s ability to govern such gigantic tracks in a live environment will always remain impressive…”

GCMIA’s Josie Cooper braved a chilly night in early June at Fisherman’s Wharf to review the official launch party of “TRACES” and was “blown away by the sound that comes from this duo and echoes out across the water. The word ‘big’ just doesn’t cut it… It’s the type of music that’s perfect to listen to with your eyes shut or in a dark room while imagining victorious movie scenes being played out in your head… It has urgency that captures your attention and absorbs you in the sound of the moment as it has done this evening. You could almost lose track of time…”

Catch them on Aug 22nd at the Coolangatta Hotel, onstage at 8.30pm

Muscadium Artists Change Lives

Monday, August 18th, 2008

We had a particularly moving email from one of our fantastic country artists Billy Bridge . Billy’s been getting some great reviews lately too. One of Billy’s fans has had an extremely tough life and a number of deaths in his immediate family. He took the time to write to Billy and say that Billy’s music had been an inspiration for him turning his life around. We say good on you Billy Bridge for making a difference with your music.

Bryce Wilson - New Release Breaking Through To Radio

Monday, August 18th, 2008

Sydney singer-songwriter Bryce Wilson’s new single release “Slippin’ Away” is making early headway with community and commercial radio across Australia. The track (a colder, darker version of the 1976 Max Merritt classic) is produced by veteran UK mix engineer Paul Gomersall (Kate Bush, George Michael, Paul Weller, Blur). After only 2 weeks, radio delivery service Musicpoint reports that the track has been selected and downloaded for airplay by no less than 20 programmers, including the Rebel commercial radio network in Queensland and the Caralis commercial network in New South Wales.

Bryce told Musicadium: “Its always a big ask getting any independent release heard on commercial radio - the majors do seem to have a stranglehold on access to mainstream media - so these early results are very encouraging.”

For more information about this artist, visit his myspace www.myspace.com/bryceanthonywilson or test drive the track, available exclusively for download on iTunes.

The Latest Music Industry News

Saturday, August 16th, 2008

Australian Music Business Declining According to the PricewaterhouseCoopers study Australian Entertainment & Media Outlook Australia’s recorded music market is expected to decline 6.8% to $795 million at the end of 2008. This comes off the back of a 10.6% fall in 2007. Again - the finger is pointed at digital and ringtones. Apparently their rise hasn’t made up for plummeting physical CD sales. The moral of the story? Buy more music on iTunes.

Study: The Leading Digital Music Retailers in the USA are…

iTunes and Amazon. This is according to the most recent surveys by NPD. Read about it here .
